A response from the Veteran Affairs of Canada
Dear Ms. Hale:
Thank you for your information regarding the two Cdn WWI veterans buried in Hood County. For your info the second, Private Ruel Murphy, is considered to be war dead (i.e., died during one of the two world wars as a result of service in that war) and his grave is inspected on a cyclical basis by officers of the Canadian Agency, Commonwealth War Graves Commission. We supplied his Commission pattern headstone and we will pay for its repair or replacement as necessary. It was last seen during a routine tour in October 1993.
If you or any of your subscribers are interested in the activities of the Commission you may access our web page at www.cwgc.org.
Sincerely,
Bradley N. Hall, Deputy Secretary-General
