A man’s body was found floating in Lake Granbury Sunday afternoon according to Hood County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Johnny Rose. The family of Donald Earle Carver, an 86-year-old Granbury man who has been missing since April 26, has been notified and the process to determine the man’s identity is underway.

A call was received by emergency dispatchers at about 2 p.m. Sunday stating that there was a body floating near the 1100 block of Pearl Street near the lake bridge.

Rose told the HCN by text that the identity of the body has not yet been confirmed, and that the process takes time.

“The body will be sent for an autopsy and will go through an identifying process through dental records or DNA confirmation,” Rose stated. “The family of Donald Carver has been notified of the discovery and the identifying process to determine if it is Carver. Please pray for the Carver family in this difficult time that they are going through.

“On behalf of the Carver family and the Hood County Sheriff’s Office, I would like to thank all the volunteers that assisted in trying to locate Mr. Carver in the five-day search that occurred.”

Rose noted that “No foul play is suspected on the information we have right now.”

Hood County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Granbury Police, Brazos River Authority lake rangers, and Hood County and Granbury firefighters assisted in the recovery of the body, Rose noted.
