Hood County resident Randal Wayne Peck, age 52, died Thursday morning (July 1), as a result of a traumatic injury suffered while working at a construction site in Wise County, Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin told the HCN Friday morning.
Peck, a resident of the Sky Harbour subdivision just north of Granbury, was using a large plumber’s wrench trying to pull a pipe from a water well near Boonsville, in southwest Wise County south of Lake Bridgeport.
Akin said that Peck had applied “quite a lot of torque” to the wrench before it reversed due to the tension and struck him in the upper torso along with the pipe. He noted that investigators reported it as a blunt force trauma injury, and Peck died at the scene.
“It was just a tragic accident,” Akin said of the incident, which occurred at about 10 a.m.
