The Granbury Theatre Academy will present “Beauty and the Beast Jr.” at the Granbury Opera House on the square July 22-31. The hour-long show will be presented by kids from 8-12 years old and teens ranging from 13-18.
The kids cast will perform Monday through Thursday, July 24-28. Each of those performances are slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
The teen cast presents its version July 22-24 and July 29-31. Those show times are set for 7:30 p.m. (Friday); 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. (Saturday); and 2 p.m. (Sunday).
The ticket prices for all seats at each show are set at $20, plus a $4 convenience fee for a total of $24.
The kids and teens worked for two weeks at camp to learn choreography, music and blocking for “Beauty and the Beast Jr.”
Maudie Davis, who will bring the role of Belle to life, said, “My absolute favorite thing about this show are the wonderful, incredibly talented people. Since I joined Granbury Theatre Academy two years ago, I have been welcomed with open arms by the staff who have taught and mentored us all into better performers and above all, grew our love for theatre and each other.”
Davis recently graduated from MacArthur High School and is attending Weatherford College this fall.
In the teen cast, Elliot Hayes plays Lumiere. Elliot said, “My favorite part of camp must be the supportiveness of everyone involved. A lot of times as artists in average social circles, we can feel as if we are ‘too much’ or ‘not enough’, but with the Granbury Theatre Academy a person can be weird, authentic, ‘too much,’ and it just works because that is the nature of this show and the people involved.”
Hayes is a junior this fall at Weatherford Christian School, and she has been a part of the Granbury Theatre Academy for five years.
