Visit Granbury sets record for trolley/tram rides

Posted

The city of Granbury’s green, iconic trolley is, well, iconic, and it is an important part of the city’s tourist appeal.

Visit Granbury enlists the trolley to transport visitors between lodging establishments, the Lake Granbury Conference Center, and the square/historic district.

Last year, Visit Granbury marked its biggest year ever for ferrying people around town, according to Visit Granbury Director Tammy Dooley. Between the trolley, the “mini trolley,” and the city’s open-air tram, rides were given to more than 13,000 people, she said.

The old-fashioned shamrock-colored trolley is a particular favorite and anyone can ride for free, including locals.

The trolley runs from 4-10 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m.  to 10 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The route takes an hour and starts at the Visitors Center at 201 E. Pearl St. by Ketzler’s Schnitzel Haus And Biergarten on the square.

The complimentary shuttle stops at hotels, bed and breakfasts, and a few other locations as it loops on the U.S. Highway 377 corridor and through the square.

Visit Granbury even has a trolley app that lets folks know the trolley’s ETA at their location. A QR code to download the app can be found at visitgranbury.com. Type “Granbury Trolley” in the search bar.
