Library love

Posted

The collection at the Hood County Library includes books, periodicals, DVDs, audio books and large print books.

But it’s not the reading materials on center stage this week. It’s the building.

A special ribbon cutting and reception drew a large crowd to view the newly expanded and renovated library Wednesday afternoon.

Parents touring the new children’s library room on the first floor said they love the glass walls keeping the area, and possible noise, separate from the main library.

The library’s new second floor features expansive views of Shanley Park on one side and balcony views of the lower library on the other.

The library is located at 222 N. Travis St. Some attributes include the following.

-Computer stations with free internet access and free wireless internet access.

-Inter-library loans.

-Genealogical section.

-Large selection of bilingual books and tapes.

-Adult programs including reading disability tutoring.

-Young adult and children’s sections.

-Popular children’s programs including a summer reading program.

The library is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. For more information call 817-573-3569.
