Local businesses asked to lower capacity to 50%

County Judge Ron Massingill is asking Hood County businesses to operate at 50% capacity in accordance with Gov. Greg Abbott's new executive order announced Friday amid a statewide spike in coronavirus cases. Abbott ordered bars to close except for delivery and takeout and lowered restaurant capacities. On Friday, Texas saw its' 15th straight day of record hospitalizations. COVID-19 cases spiked this week in Hood County, with Hood County Public Health Authority Dr. David Blocker reporting 23 active cases Thursday afternoon, up from seven last Saturday. Massingill and Hood County Emergency Management Coordinator Jay Webster are urging the public to wear masks and practice sociial distancing.
