Swearingen to resign from Granbury School Board

Friday, June 26, 2020

The GISD board of trustees will hold a special meeting Tuesday to accept the resignation of Bob Swearingen, who drew outrage on social media earlier this week when he posted a photo of a lookalike inappropriately touching young women engaged in a yoga exercise. In a post on his Facebook page, Swearingen joked that the man was his "evil twin." Speaking for other members of the school board, President Mark A. Jackson said, "What he posted was appalling. We are in no way comfortable with it, and frankly we are disappointed in Mr. Swearingen."  The former Granbury teacher and coach was elected last November to the Place 7 seat, defeating incumbent Rhonda Rezsofi. Tuesday's special meeting will be at 4 p.m. in the GISD board room in the administration building at 217 N. Jones St.
