PIrates lose heartbreaker
The Granbury Pirates lost 35-34 to Crowley Friday in a noon game that was postponed from Thursday night.
Granbury trailed 35-14 in the third quarter but stormed back to come within a score in the fourth. Keeton Derouen returned a fumbled punt snap for a touchdown with less than a minute left in the game to make the score 35-34, but a sideline infraction penalty moved the PIrates' extra point attempt back to nearly 40 yards into a howling wind. The kick was short, but Crowley was whistled for a roughing the kicker penalty. Granbury tried a fake field goal and was stopped short of the goal line.
The Pirates are now 3-3 (2-2 District 3-5A D1) on the season.
