Two people tried to smuggle methamphetamine to a jail inmate, authorities said.

Hood County Sheriff’s Office investigators charged Demarcus Ledre Lashley, 27, Courtney Jolene Conner, 35, and Kaylee Christian Owen, 28, with prohibited substance in a correctional

Owen is from Glen Rose. Lashley and Conner are from Nemo.

The charges stem from Conner and Owen placing a container of meth in an over-the-counter product and handing it off to a Hood County jailer to be delivered to Lashley, who is in jail on a family violence charge and parole warrant, according to authorities.

“The ruse was uncovered by an alert jailer that foiled their plan,” said sheriff’s office Public Information Officer Lt. Johnny Rose.

Lashley and Conner are in the Hood County Jail, and Owen was arrested by the Somervell County Sheriff’s Office and is in jail in Glen Rose.

All suspects were still in jail at press time.
