Bounce houses, more at TMAD’s free ‘Spring Into Summer’ event

Posted

Teens Making a Difference, a program of the Hood County Substance Abuse Council, will present a free “Spring Into Summer” event at Stonewater Church in Granbury from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, April 29.

The event will feature bounce houses, bungee runs, raffles/prizes, face painting, information booths, and food, including cotton candy and popcorn. The information booths will be geared toward healthy lifestyle choices and resources about substance abuse.

Stonewater Church is located at 911 E. U.S. Highway 377, No. 4.

The Hood County Substance Abuse Council was created after a needs assessment authorized in 2006 by the board of the United Way of Hood County identified youth substance abuse and adult substance abuse as the top two concerns in the community.

In 2009, the HCSAC applied for and received a federal grant from the office of the National Drug Control Policy through the Drug-Free Communities program funded by Congress and administered through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

The HCSAC is a member of Community Anti-Dug Coalitions of America (CADCA), which trains and assists coalitions in their efforts.

In addition to TMAD, programs by the HCSAC include CADCA leadership conferences, Drug Take Back (safe disposal of medications), and Teen Court.

Sponsorships for the “Spring Into Summer” event are available for businesses and individuals who want to support the event. Sponsorship levels are Diamond ($1,000), Gold ($500), Silver ($350), and Bronze ($200) with special recognition for each level.

Cash donations are accepted, too.

Anyone interested in being a sponsor can email misty.sklark@hoodcosac.org.
