Brazos Drive-in will host Veterans Day celebration

Posted

Brazos Drive-In will be hosting a Veterans Day celebration and movie double feature of “Forrest Gump” and “Saving Private Ryan” at 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

“The event is to raise money for the Veteran Services Department of Pecan Valley Centers,” said Joshua Morrison, event organizer. “Funds are used to assist local veterans with utilities, rent, food, homelessness and projects such as home modifications (wheelchair ramps) that aren’t currently provided by the VA.”

The gates will open at 5 p.m., and there will be a slide show tribute to local veterans set to patriotic music. “Forrest Gump” will start at around 5:45 p.m.

Standard parking is $25 per carload while VIP parking (reserved, no waiting) is $50 per carload.

Concessions will be open for purchase. Donations are welcome.

All proceeds will benefit local veterans in Hood, Erath, Somervell, Palo Pinto, Parker and Johnson counties.

“Personally, I look forward to the camaraderie,” Morrison added. “I love spending time with other veterans and celebrating our shared military culture. There’s a lot of division in the world right now, so any excuse for us to set our differences aside for a day, night, weekend or couple of hours is time well spent.”
