Chamber to host city candidate forum

Posted

The chamber will host a candidate forum ahead of the city of Granbury’s June 29 special election.

The forum will be from 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, in the auditorium at Granbury High School, 2000 West Pearl St. It will be moderated by Eric Morrow, dean of the College of Liberal & Fine Arts at Tarleton State University.

The special election was called due to the resignation of Mayor Nin Hulett, whose term does not expire until November 2022. Council member Tony Mobly is seeking that seat but had to relinquish his Place 5 post to do so. That means that both seats will be on the ballot.

The special election has drawn seven candidates: four for mayor, and three for Place 5. All candidates have been invited to participate in the forum.

Mayoral candidates, in ballot order, are: Charles Nangle, Mobly, Jim Jarratt and Joanie Keays.

Place 5 candidates, in ballot order, are: Richard Hoefs, Steven Vale and Cathy Reidy.

Early voting will take place June 14-25 in the meeting room at Annex 1, 1410 W. Pearl St.

Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 14-18 and will also be open during those hours on June 21, June 23 and June 25.

On June 22 and June 24, they will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Voters will be able to cast ballots from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day – Tuesday, June 29.
