City to erect 'superior' water rating signs

The Granbury City Council has approved the placement of roadside signs that recognize the 'superior' water rating the city has received from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

The signs will be placed on major roads at entrances to the city.

The city was praised by Steven Swierenga, manager of TCEQ's drinking water special functions section, for its "high standard of waterworks operation" and its continuing efforts to protect public health and provide customer service.

Public Works Director Rick Crownover credited the hard work of city staff.

"We have had no major water violations over the past five years," he said. "We have also sent in water samples each month, which have been within permit limits."

Granbury City Manager Chris Coffman also praised the public works staff.

"It's a service we depend upon constantly, yet sometimes take for granted," he said.
