Acton 8th-grader named honorary council member

Acton Middle School 8th-grader Pete O'Carroll is the latest Granbury ISD student to join an exclusive club. He was named an honorary member of the Granbury City Council.

Mayor Nin Hulett and council members select a single student every month during the school year to publicly recognize for their leadership ability and academic success.

O'Carroll, the son of Dr. Peter O'Carroll and Dr. Kelly O'Carroll, serves as president of the Student Council at AMS. He also participates in cross country, basketball, track and football, is in his second year of varsity choir and is a National Junior Honor Society member. Outside of school, O'Carroll plays competitive club soccer.

A fan of summer fun on Lake Granbury, O'Carroll hopes to attend Rice University or Duke University after graduating high school.
