County approves driver’s license office

Posted

The Hood County Commissioners Court on Tuesday voted in favor of Precinct 3 Commissioner Jack Wilson’s request to make space at county Annex 3 for the return of a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) driver’s license office.

The court voted unanimously to move the county’s Development office and Environmental Health office to the county’s Acton annex to make room for an area where locals will be able to renew their driver’s licenses and take care of other matters, such as making name or address changes.

The site will not be a full-service location. It will not offer driving tests, but those services will continue to be offered at the Tolar DPS office located at 105 Pine Lane.

All four court members who were present for the regular meeting voted in favor of the move. Precinct 4 Commissioner Dave Eagle was absent because he was attending training.

Annex 3 is located at 1402 W. Pearl St. in Granbury.

Wilson said he expects the office to open in early January.
