COVID-19 cases decline over past week

COVID-19 numbers for Hood County looked a bit better in Thursday’s weekly update from the county, but there nevertheless were five additional related deaths over the past week.

According to Hood County Emergency Management Coordinator Jay Webster, the total number of cases at the time he issued his update shortly before 1:30 p.m. was 647, significantly less than the 871 he reported one week earlier.

There are 28 hospitalizations.

The total number of coronavirus-related deaths among Hood County residents as reported by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) is 169.

All ICU beds at Lake Granbury Medical Center remain in use, with 83.33% of those beds occupied by people who are COVID-19 positive.

The hospital’s overall hospital capacity is 37.93% COVID-19 positive.

Regionally there are 61 adult ICU beds available and nine pediatric ICU bed available.

Hood County remains at high risk of COVID-19 transmission.
