When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are washed clean of our sins and will be saved from the judgement of our sins.

However, in the book of Hebrews, chapter 26-31, warns of destruction. It starts with, “For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgement and THE FURY OF A FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES”.

Well, that’s scary! I think as children of the Most High, we should know what that means. To me, accepting Jesus as my Savior is rather easy. The hard part is to follow Him. I must set aside my own desires and follow Him. Matthew 11:28-30 says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me…. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Jesus tells us His yoke is easy. Yes, it is easy compared to the fi re and eternal damnation waiting for us without Him.

Like any muscle, it takes practice to build. Learning to turn away from the world desires and following Christ takes practice and discipline.

Often times we give more thought to what we will eat for lunch than our eternal destination. We must study the bible to know how to follow Him. Matthew 7:16-20 is talking about false prophets as well as false disciples. Do you live a sexually pure life? Are you married or living with someone? What does Jesus say about that? Is that willful sin? When people are around you, do they see Jesus in you or do you insult the Spirit of grace?

If we act like the world, why would any nonbeliever want to come to the cross and be saved? Salvation is easy to accept, but it isn’t cheap. We must all put away our old ways and pick up our cross and follow Him. “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? ”Matthew 16:26 What are you doing? What are you showing the world? Something to think about.
