A 25-year-old Granbury man who led officers on a vehicle pursuit on Jan. 11 that covered approximately eight miles and reached speeds as high as 100 mph was jailed on a felony count of evading arrest/detention, according to information provided by Granbury Police Department Deputy Chief Cliff Andrews.

Perry Allen Harkcom was driving a 2007 GMC Yukon when a GPD officer “initiated a traffic stop for unconfirmed insurance.”

Andrews also stated in an email that the vehicle “yielded at Lake Granbury Medical Center,” but “As the officer approached the vehicle, the driver quickly drove away from the scene. The pursuit traveled approximately eight miles. The officer pursued the vehicle and speeds reached 100 miles per hour. The vehicle drove over a spike strip at Heritage Trail and Highway 144. The vehicle suffered enough damage to become inoperable and stopped at Williamson Road and 144. The driver was then taken into custody.”

Andrews added that no injuries were reported, and “The reason for the driver’s flight is unknown.”
