The public is invited to attend the Wednesday, Feb. 19 educational meeting of Lake Granbury Master Gardeners (LGMG) to learn about the dangers of toxic plants.

LGMG JoBeth Cloud will present “Wicked Plants: How Toxic Is Your Yard?”

There is no charge to attend the lecture, which begins at 1 p.m. at First Christian Church, 2109 Highway 377.

“Throughout history, plants have been used as remedies and as poisons,” Cloud said. “Today, some of the plants we grow in our landscapes are to some degree toxic, causing reactions ranging from mild skin irritation to organ failure or death.”

Cloud will explore issues that occur in humans, pets, cattle and horses as a result of exposure to toxic plants. Attendees will learn about the most common “toxic” plants grown in North Central Texas.
