Rose noted in an email, “Criminal histories from those arrested includes 47 previous felonies and 33 previous misdemeanors. (Two) of the 13 warrants obtained are still active. This win for Hood County was made possible due to the tremendous and ongoing efforts of the new Street Crimes Unit (SCU), which was developed within the HCSO this year.”

Two other individuals are still being sought in connection with the felony drug warrant roundup, Rose noted, and investigators are seeking help from the public to find them. One of the two other suspects is Cassandra Ward, also Hood County resident, and the other is Cleburne resident Terry Westerman, Rose said. Both Ward and Westerman will be facing no less than felony charges of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, Rose said.

The bulk of the illegal substances named in the warrants was in the form of methamphetamines, but there was also some heroin, Rose said.

“The majority of it is meth. That’s the major drug in Hood County right now,” Rose said. “Some of it has fentanyl in it from Mexico, and it’s pretty dangerous.”

Rose stated, “This is an ongoing investigation; more arrests may follow. If you have any information leading to the arrest of (Ward and Westerman), please contact the Hood County Sheriff’s Office (non-emergency number, 817-579-3316) or submit a tip to Hood County Crime Stoppers.”

The number to call to submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers is (817-573-TIPS (8477). Crime tips can also be submitted online at http://www.hoodcountycrimestoppers.com/ (also anonymously). Upon arrest and indictment, a Crime Stoppers tipster could receive a reward of up to $1,000 through Crime Stoppers.

Rose added, “We’re glad to see all these people rounded up. It made the community safer.”

Burris and Nicholas have been released from the Hood County Jail after posting bail, Rose noted. The other nine who have been arrested were still in custody as of press time, Rose said.
