Field of Flags can spark intense feelings

Tuesday, May 14, 2019

One thousand American flags can be viewed at a thought provoking display at the annual Field of Flags over Memorial Day Weekend.

The sight can stir emotions and bring a tear to the eye.

The flags will flourish at the same location as last year, 3602 E. Highway 377, near Taco Casa. There’s no charge to view or walk through the flags.

“The Field of Flags is a wonderful opportunity to visibly honor and remember all of our military and first responders past and present, all those currently serving and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice,” said spokesman Doug Pruitt, Texas State Chaplain.

Personalized tags on the flags name the person being honored.

Flags can be purchased for $35 and you can designate an individual or group to honor. Sponsorships range from $100 to $2,500.

Flags can be ordered online at www.granburyfieldofflags.com. Or mail payment to MOAA Flags, PO Box 160, Granbury 76048. Order forms are available and payments can be made at the Visit Granbury office located at 201 E. Pearl St. at Gran-bury Square Plaza.

The event is sponsored by the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), Texas State Chaplains, Blue Star Mothers and other local veterans and community service organizations.

Proceeds support Hood County veterans, their families and the Granbury High School Marine Corps Junior ROTC.

The flags will be on display from Friday, May 24 through Monday, May 27.

Opening ceremony for Field of Flags is at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25. Closing ceremony is 2 p.m. Memoiral Day, Monday, May 27.
