Filing opens for city, school elections

The filing period has opened for November elections for the city of Granbury, the Granbury ISD board of trustees, the city of DeCordova, the city of Tolar, and Tolar ISD.

Deadline to file is 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16.

For the city of Granbury, terms will be expiring for Places 3 and 5.

Bruce Wadley currently holds the Place 3 seat. Tony Mobly resigned from Place 5, and a replacement to serve out the remainder of his term will be decided in a runoff election on Tuesday.

Steven Vale and Cathy Reidy are competing for that seat. The winner will have to file to be on the Nov. 2 ballot if they want to serve a full three-year term.

Early voting for the Place 5 race is underway at Annex 1, 1410 W. Pearl St. Voting hours for today and Friday are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and polls will be open Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Voting will take place at that location from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day.

For the Granbury School Board, terms are expiring for the Place 3 seat currently held by Chris Willis and the Place 4 seat currently held by Nancy Alana.

Alana filed for another term Monday morning. Melanie Graft filed for the Place 3 seat.

In Tolar, terms on the City Council will expire for Places 1, 2 and 3 held by Matt Hutsell, Sally Grimes and Chip Foster, respectively.

On the ballot for the Tolar ISD board of trustees will be Place 3, a seat currently occupied by Matt Imel, and Place 4, occupied by Rhonda Knight.

For the city of DeCordova, seats scheduled to be on the ballot and the people currently holding them are: Place 1 (mayor), Dave Hanson; Place 4, Judy Cordell; and Place 5, Jim Gallman.
