Fire marshal, under investigation, placed on leave
Fire Marshal and Emergency Management Coordinator Ray Wilson was placed on a two-week paid leave of absence Tuesday afternoon by the Commissioners Court after an hours-long closed session. County Judge Ron Massingill said that an investigation into the activities of Wilson and Deputy Fire Marshal Jeff Young will hopefully be completed in time for the court to decide on a course of action at its next regular meeting on June 11th. No details about the investigation were given. About 30 representatives of the county's nine volunteer fire departments showed up to support Wilson, and many were still there when the county judge and commissioners emerged from closed session at 2:20 p.m. The Commissioners Court meeting had started at 9 a.m.
