The freezer is your friend

Is it possible to prepare healthy meals when you’re in a hurry?

Participate with the Hood County Freezer Club and you will learn more healthy cooking habits, according to Kelli Brown, AgriLife Extension Family and Community Health agent in Hood County.

The extension service offers the Freezer Club program to help you organize the preparation of three easy and nutritious main dishes in a single session.

The program is from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30 at the Granbury Housing Authority, 503 N. Crockett St.

Join on Facebook at Hood County Freezer Club to receive the latest updates.

The session will cover healthy eating, food safety, measuring, packaging and freezing meals and provide more online resources for participants.

Ingredients, cooking materials, storage containers and recipes will be provided. The fee is $40.

Brown said participants will be guided through the preparation and freezing of three (5-7 serving) easy and nutritious main dishes before the session is over.

“If you do the prep ahead of time, all you have to do is pop it in the oven or on the grill and it fits in with today’s busy schedule that we all face,” Brown said.

“Bring your friends or come meet new friends,” Brown said.
