GHS band ensembles win sweepstakes

Granbury High School band ensembles won sweepstakes honors with superior ratings at the UIL concert and sightreading competition on April 21-22 at Burleson High School.

Programs for the GHS groups were:

• Wind Ensemble: "The Glory of the Yankee Navy (Sousa)," "Masks and Machines (Dooley)," "Fantasy Variations on a Theme of Paganini (Barnes)."
• Symphonic Band: "Prestissimo (King/arr. Swearingen)," "O Waly, Waly (Bocook)," "A Longford Legend (Sheldon)."
• Concert Band: "The Red Cape (James Meredith)," "Our Kingsland Spring (Hazo)," "Sparks (Balmages)."
