Goodbye, summer

Posted

It’s still plenty hot, but the start of school and the closing of the city pool are sure signs that summer is winding down.

The Dana Vollmer Swim Center is now officially closed for the season.

The city made the announcement on Monday, one day before Granbury students headed back to class for the start of the 2019-2020 school year.

Lipan students start school on Thursday, and classes begin for Tolar kids next week.

According to a statement released by the city, the pool is closed because most of the city’s lifeguards are either high school or college students who must head back to class.

The city beach remains open for swimming, even though most of its monitors are leaving for the same reason as the pool lifeguards.

Beach monitors are not lifeguards. They are there to supervise crowd size and enforce rules.

Hours for City Beach Park are 8 a.m. until sunset.
