GPD: Motorcyclist arrested after high-speed chase

Posted

A 28-year-old motorcyclist identified as Charles Robert Hamilton of De Leon was arrested on April 24 after leading Granbury Police on a pursuit that reached speeds in excess of 100 mph, according to Lt. Russell Grizzard.

Hamilton was driving a 2009 Yamaha when a Granbury Police officer attempted to get him to pull over shortly after 10:30 a.m. because the motorcycle had no rear license plate, Grizzard stated in an email to the HCN.

The motorcycle operator fled eastbound beginning at the 1000 block of Highway 377 East, Grizzard noted.

“The motorcycle continued eastbound, reaching speeds in excess of 100 mph, and eventually turned into the Saratoga subdivision,” the lieutenant stated. “The officer lost sight of the motorcycle, but it was quickly found abandoned. The operator, identified as 28-year-old Charles Robert Hamilton of De Leon, was located a short distance away and taken into custody without incident.”

Hamilton was booked into the Hood County Jail on a state jail felony charge of evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, according to Grizzard, and also had two outstanding traffic warrants out of Johnson County.
