A growing population

Posted

Hood County Fire Marshal Ray Wilson attributes a growing population to the increase of fire calls last year. The county’s nine volunteer fire departments answered 6,028 calls in 2018, a jump of 386 from the previous year. Fire calls were up in all departments, except for Granbury. Wilson theorizes that Granbury’s calls were down because Texas EMS is stationed in Granbury and can respond quicker to medical emergencies in town. The dry summer sparked a large number of grass fires, but Wilson pointed out that calls were up every month. “There were a lot more calls for services all across the board,” he said.
