Hangout space for owners

| PECAN BITS

The Friends of Pooch Plantation (FOPP) are grateful to Brenda and Les Staples for their generous gift of two picnic tables placed in Pooch Plantation, Pecan’s off leash dog park. Pet owners now have more seating for fellowship while their canines run and play.

To honor the Staples for their generous gift, a reception is on the calendar for April 6 at 11:30 a.m. when pizza and beverages are on the menu. All Pecaners are invited and encouraged to bring a bag of dry dog food or treats for donation to the Friends for Animals shelter in Acton.

FOPP is currently accepting membership renewals. Application forms are available at the Pooch Plantation entrance, and annual dues are $25. Funds raised from memberships purchase new and maintain established amenities in the dog park.

For complete information on FOPP and its presence in Pecan Plantation, contact Dennis Iacomini at pecaniacomini@gmail.com.

WOMAN’S CLUB

The Pecan Plantation Woman’s Club gathers again Thursday with social time starting at 9:30 a.m. followed by President Betty Milburn calling the meeting to order at 10. The ladies will enjoy a program and then lunch.

Continuing its monthly support of a local philanthropy, the PPWC will celebrate “Reading with Baby,” a friends of Hood County Library program. Ladies are encouraged to bring a baby appropriate book (cardboard, not cloth), and monetary donations are always welcome.

The PPWC, a group devoted to friendship, fellowship, philanthropy, and the arts, invites all ladies of Pecan to join the meeting on Thursday.

BIG DATE

The PPWC also wants Pecaners to add Mar. 23 to the calendar when its annual “Boot Scootin’ Cheers to Forty Years” will happen.

Dinner, dancing and auction items will make this fundraising night a memorable one, and the front desk is now taking reservations for the event.

Members have received voting packets, and ballots are due at the clubhouse before the meeting commences.
