Kind hearts

Posted

Gestures of kindness in these very curious days continue. Thank you to Pecaners for making the following events happen: a car show and drive-by with unique vehicles; a Granbury teacher caravan; the Giving Table in front of the golf cart shop; and the Pecan ladies who are busily making medical masks for Hood County nursing homes and have sewn more than 700 so far.

Your community salutes you and sends gratitude for your efforts.

STILL OPEN

Even though all events at both the Pecan and Nutcracker clubhouses and the Pecan Activities Center are canceled through the month of April, numerous amenities in our neighborhood are still available.

The tennis courts, the golf course, the walking and nature trails, the campground and all greenspace in Pecan parks are operational.

Furthermore, the collection station is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. (for landscaping debris and limbs only), and Pooch Plantation is still running, as is the archery/air gun range and soccer field disc golf, as long as folks bring their own disks.

The management of Pecan does ask that folks practice appropriate social distancing when using any of these facilities.

CONTACT INFORMATION

Pecaners should also remember that the front and back gates are still staffed, and patrolling of the neighborhood continues. The security building is closed to membership, but phone operators are available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 817-408-3511 to speak with security personnel.

The Pecan business office has staff members available for phone calls Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and member assessment payments may be made at the clubhouse using the payment box near the front entry door, as well as via auto draft.

Notary service at the clubhouse is unavailable at this time. Calling 817-573-2641 will connect members with business office personnel. Furthermore, a receptionist is available by phone 24 hours a day each day at the clubhouse front desk.

THE COLUMNS

The April edition of The Columns was not mailed to members’ homes but is available online instead. Members may access the magazine on Pecan’s website.

In addition, a link to the magazine was provided to the membership via email on April 1. The May edition will also be available digitally. For Columns communication, contact Judith Bandy at judith@ppoaweb.com.

WEBSITE

For Pecaners who have questions about accessing Pecan’s website, contact John Jacobs at johnj@ ppoaweb.com.

GOLF SHOP

Duff Cunningham has begun his duties as our community’s head golf professional, and he and pro shop staff are available to members by calling 817-573-2645.

UPDATES

The management and governing authorities of Pecan Plantation remind residents that they are following national and local news and seeking input from professionals when making decisions about our community.

Pecaners will continue to receive email messages with the latest updates concerning our neighborhood. Members may also receive COVID information by visiting www. ppoaweb.com and selecting the COVID-19 tile.

GOT QUESTIONS?

Rene Garrett of Pecan’s Communication Committee reminds residents that not only may they direct neighborhood questions to the clubhouse information desk, but they may also check the FAQ area of Pecan’s website as well as Pecan’s Facebook page.

EMERGENCY HELP

Sandra Winfield, chief of Pecan’s Emergency Medical Service, reminds residents who have a fever, cough or shortness of breath to contact their primary care physician or dial 911 rather than visit Pecan’s emergency service compound.

Pecan’s emergency volunteers will always come directly to residents in a time of need, and these dedicated folks are able to take safety precautions when contacted by dispatch. For non-emergency issues, call 817-573-1643.
