Making a list, checking it twice

Some may have been a bit naughty – at least in terms of silliness at the city’s annual holiday season awards luncheon – but there was plenty of niceness to recognize and celebrate.

Jarrod Butler, a three-and-a-half-year Granbury employee who was promoted this year to meter foreman, was named the city’s 2018 Employee of the Year during the luncheon held last week at the Lake Granbury Conference Center.

Some city employees dressed in festive holiday sweaters and a few even donned reindeer antlers.

In nominating Butler for the top honor, Jason Barber, assistant director of public works/utilities, noted that the employee “has continuously gone above and beyond when assisting customers and multiple departments.”

Barber continued, “His professional demeanor, knowledge of utilities, knowledge of billing, and local insight provide Jarrod with the skills to solve any situation. We have received multiple compliments on Jarrod from citizens.”

The third annual “Git-R-Done Award,” presented to an employee for their ability to deliver results regardless of circumstances, went to Building Maintenance Technician Traci Gonzales.

Her supervisor, Assistant Director of Public Works/Maintenance Terry Johnson, stated that Gonzalez is “one of the hardest working employees that I have seen in my 40 years of service with the city of Granbury.”

Service awards also were presented to workers who have reached milestones in their employment with the city.

Those recognized were: Chris Cogdill (20 years); Kevin Clapp, Carla Kracy, Cory Lander, Aaron McLain and Lisa Medford (15 years); Christina Carpenter, Aaron Heathington, Maria Juarez, Cheryl Kirchner, Joe Moad, Jose Mojica, Timothy Tillison, Heather Walls, Patricia Westbrook and Patrick Wiginton (10 years); and Cody Blakley, Dasan Boling, Roger Brock, Donna Erwin, Katie Moses and Josue Valdez (5 years).
