Man, 50, given life sentence for sexually abusing daughters

An arrest warrant was issued for a man who sexually abused his daughters after he failed to show on the last day of his trial, authorities said.

A Hood County jury convicted George Ray Davis, 50, of indecency with a child. District Judge Ralph Walton sentenced Davis to life in prison and a $10,000 fine.

The district attorney’s office gave the following account.

In the summer of 2016, Ashley Briley, who was then employed as an investigator with the Hood County District Attorney’s Office, received a call from a 21-year-old woman.

The woman lived in West Monroe, Louisiana. She told Briley that her father, George Ray Davis, had molested her throughout her life in Granbury, Katy, and Colombia, Central America.

She had reported the sexual abuse to authorities in Louisiana and Katy, but no one ever started an investigation.

Law enforcement in West Monroe interviewed the victim before the victim traveled to Granbury to meet Briley at the Hood County District Attorney’s Office to provide more information about the sexual abuse.

She reported that she lived in Pecan Plantation with George Davis and attended Mambrino Elementary School when Davis sexually abused her.

Briley learned that Davis also molested two of the young woman’s sisters. One of the sisters made a prior outcry of sexual abuse in East Texas but later recanted the allegation. Another sister cooperated with Briley and confirmed that Davis had molested her too.

Starting last Wednesday afternoon Assistant District Attorney Ryan Sinclair guided the sisters through their testimony.

Thursday morning, the prosecution called its last witness, a sexual assault nurse examiner from John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. However, George Ray Davis and his witnesses did not appear.

Sinclair presented evidence that Davis had several prior burglary convictions. Walton assessed Davis’ punishment at life in prison and assessed a fine of $10,000.

Sinclair said, “I am honored to have had the opportunity to help these sisters tell their story to a Hood County jury.”

There is an active warrant for Davis’ arrest. If anyone has any information relating to Davis’ flight, call the Hood County District Attorney’s Office at 817-579-3245 or the Hood County Sheriff’s Office at 817-579-3317.
