Man charged with felony in family assault case

A 36-year-old Granbury man was arrested on Dec. 2 and charged with a third-degree felony count of “family violence assault with a previous conviction,” plus one misdemeanor offense, Hood County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Johnny Rose stated in a news release.

Deputies responded to a disturbance call at about 9:30 a.m., in reference to a disturbance in the 2800 block of James Road.

“Deputies discovered Christopher Alan Nichols allegedly assaulted his 40-year-old girlfriend during an argument and prevented her from leaving a bedroom,” Rose stated. “The victim was not seriously injured during the incident.”

Rose noted that Nichols was booked on the second-degree felony assault count ($10,000 bond), along with a Class A misdemeanor charge of unlawful restraint ($2,500 bond).
