Masks or face coverings are now optional in Granbury ISD schools

Posted

Masks or face coverings are now optional in Granbury ISD schools. As you know, the CDC, Texas Department of Health, and district still recommend students and staff continue to wear masks or face coverings out of an abundance of caution.

GISD will continue to provide notifications to families about positive cases on campus.  In addition, the district will continue to report positive cases to relevant local and state authorities.

Please see our updated guidelines for “close contact” individuals.

Updated Close Contact & Self-Isolation Guidelines

Close contact is defined as an individual being within 3 feet for longer than 15 minutes of someone who is positive for COVID-19. However, additional factors like case/contact masking (i.e., both the infectious individual and the potential close contact have been consistently and properly masked), ventilation, presence of dividers, vaccination status, prior infection status, and case symptomology may affect this determination.

Close contacts should follow the stay at home protocol as outlined by the CDC. COVID-19 testing for close contacts is not necessary, as negative test results can occur at any time while the virus is incubating. The role of schools in identifying close contacts is to provide relevant information to local health departments, not to determine close contacts in the absence of public health guidance.

An individual may be immune from close contact quarantine if the following conditions are met:

  • the individual has tested positive for COVID in the last 3 months (90 days) or
  • are fully vaccinated
