Masks will be optional in GISD as school starts tomorrow

Posted

Parents and students need to be aware of a few changes with the start of the school tomorrow in the Granbury ISD, and the district has been sending out quick message reminders.

COVID-19 MESSAGES

Masks and face coverings are optional, as are COVID-19 vaccinations, and school nurses can provide a free rapid test (with parental permission) for the virus.

COVID-19 vaccinations are optional for all students and staff. Vaccinations are available at most local pharmacies free of charge.

Masks and face coverings are optional for all students and staff. Anyone wishing to wear a mask or face covering is welcome to do so.

Frequent handwashing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds is recommended. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

Students are encouraged to bring their own water bottle and hand sanitizer with them to school.

Stay home if you are sick.  If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or another easily spread virus, the best thing to do is stay home.

Protocols for the GISD are available online (granburyisd.org/roadmap).

NEW ADMINISTRATORS

New assistant superintendents: Tammy Clark and Jimmy Dawson.

New principals: Heather Boisjoile (STEAM Academy at Mambrino), Chelsey Gibson (Oak Woods School), Dr. Andy Smith (Granbury Middle School).

New assistant principals: Leah Dawson (Acton Elementary School), Janice Mueller (Granbury Middle School), Lissa Oliver (Oak Woods School), Sandy Ruiz (Brawner Elementary School).

SCHOOL CHANGES

Brawner Elementary is now a K-5 campus. All pre-kindergarten is at the Emma Roberson Early Learning Academy.

GISD’s Child Nutrition will offer free breakfast and lunch every school day throughout the school year for all students. Students may still purchase a la carte items or bring their lunch.
