Proud of your photos? You might want to enter Camera Club’s Photography Show
Area photography enthusiasts are invited to submit their photos for consideration in the 2019 Granbury Camera Club Photography Show.
Each year the Camera Club, an arm of the Lake Granbury Art Association (LGAA), awards about $1,500 in prizes to winning photographers.
Turn-in date is Saturday, Jan. 19 from 9 a.m. to noon at The Shanley House for the Arts, 224 N. Travis St., Granbury.
Entry fees for non-members of the LGAA are $15 for each photo or three photos for $40, with a limit of three entries.
Entry fees for LGAA members are $15 per photo or three photos for $35 with a limit of three entries. Those interested may join the LGAA at the photo turn-in. Entry fees are non-refundable.
Immediately after the turn-in process, all photographs will be juried by independent jury panel for acceptance into the photography show.
This jury will select a Jurors’ Award winner.
Photographs not accepted for the show must be picked up from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. the same day, Saturday, Jan.
19. Accepted entries will be hung and judged for additional awards during the week after turn-in.
The 2019 Photography Show judge is photojournalist and freelance photographer Mary Vinson, who has received numerous national and regional awards during her career, which included 17 years as staff photographer for the Hood County News.
She has more than 40 years in the professional photography field, including experience in photo finishing with Byrd Photo Services, the oldest full-service photo lab in Fort Worth and also as laboratory manager at Fort Worth’s B&W Photo Lab.
Currently, she operates her freelance business, Photos by Mary Vinson.
The next meeting of the Granbury Camera Club is Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in Shanley House. MacKenzie Hughes of Fort Worth Camera will address travel photography and lead a session about the latest camera gear. The meeting is free of charge and open to the public.
Photography show dates will be Jan. 26 – March 2. After the show, photographs will be available for artist pick-up from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 3. Photographs that have been purchased will also be available for pick-up during these hours.
The opening night reception and awards presentation is scheduled for Gran-bury’s Last Saturday Night Gallery Night at The Shanley House, 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 26. There is no charge and members of the public are invited.
