Repaving project’s completion is nearing

Posted

The Lake Granbury DeCordova Bend Park Repaving Project is still ongoing, but the work will wind down in the next few months.

The project is on track to possibly complete the roadway resurfacing in the park by Memorial Day, according to Brazos River Authority information officer Judi Pierce.

“This is the ongoing park road repaving project that was delayed last year during COVID,” Pierce stated in an email. “They should finish with DeCordova by Memorial Day. They will then move on to Hunter Park — which we hope will be completed by July 4. Rough Creek will be last and will begin sometime after July 4.”

The BRA noted, “Each park will be closed while work is being performed to allow the work to cure and to keep concrete and tar off vehicles and boats. We've created this Facebook group called “Lake Granbury Park Repaving Project” and will be updating it on a regular basis so you’ll know which lake parks are available. You can join our Facebook group specific to this project here: https://buff.ly/3fQS0w8.

“Or, if you would rather get updates via phone, you may call our Lake Granbury office and listen to a regularly updated recording regarding progress and park closures details. Call 817-573-3212, choose option 1.

“We understand that a park project during the summer isn’t ideal, but road material requires warmer, dryer weather to cure. The entirety of the project will take a few months as long as no rain disrupts the process. Should additional rain occur during the timeframe of the project, it will prolong the work.Thank you for your patience as we work to improve our public use areas around Lake Granbury.”
