Sheriff: Felony charge against woman dropped

Posted

The Hood County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday announced that it has dropped the felony criminal charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon that had been filed Wednesday against 36-year-old Candace Victoria Sheffield of Granbury, according to Lt. Johnny Rose.

Rose stated that her charges “were dropped due to the results of the pending investigation. We are comfortable with the new information we discovered that she was not a participant in the stabbing.”

A 29-year-old Granbury man, Charles Michael Anthony Seely, remains in the Hood County Jail, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the case, Rose stated. Seely’s second-degree felony charge came in connection with a Dec. 3 incident that resulted in a 36-year-old man being transported by helicopter to a Fort Worth hospital for treatment of “severe stab wounds on his neck,” Rose noted.

Rose also stated Thursday that the victim has been released from the hospital and is “in good condition.”
