Sheriff: Man arrested on first-degree felony count after pointing gun

A 57-year-old Hood County man was arrested on a first-degree felony charge by Hood County Sheriff’s Office deputies early Tuesday evening, Dec. 1, after he reportedly pointed a large caliber firearm at his girlfriend, according to Lt. Johnny Rose.

The arrest came when deputies responded to a disturbance call in the 8000 block of Glen Rose Highway (SH 144) at about 7 p.m.

“Deputies discovered James Roger Shackelford allegedly pointed a 357-magnum pistol at his 50-year-old girlfriend during an argument,” Rose stated in an email. “No one was injured during the incident.”

Rose noted that Shackelford was charged with the first-degree felony count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and his bond was set at $75,000.
