Andrews named finalist for Naismith Hall of Fame

Leta Andrews, former coach of the Granbury Lady Pirate basketball team, is a finalist again for the Naismith Memorial Basketball of Hall Fame, this time for the Class of 2021.

The hall of fame announced 14 finalists on March 9, with the slate including nine players and five coaches. Those selected for enrichment will be announced on May 16.

The hall of fame is named in honor of basketball game inventor James Naismith.

A prior Naismith Hall of Fame finalist, Andrews is the all-time winningest high school coach, male or female.

Having begun her career at Tolar in 1962, Andrews later coached in Gustine (1963-1965), Comanche (1965-1976), Corpus Christi Calallen (1980-1992) and Granbury (1976-1980, 1992-2014).
