Unbeaten Tolar to play Hamilton Nov. 25 in Crowley in regional semifinal playoff round

Posted

Tolar High School’s seventh-ranked Rattlers (12-0) will play a familiar foe in their Class 2A Division I regional semifinal football playoff game — district foe Hamilton.

On Friday, Nov. 18, Hamilton’s Bulldogs eliminated Axtell by a 35-21 margin in their area playoff contest, advancing to take on the 12-0 Rattlers. Hamilton, 7-5 on the season, lost in its District 5-2A game against Tolar, 56-7, in September. The Bulldogs were the fourth-place team in the seven-school district, at 3-3, behind Tolar, Coleman and Bangs.

The Tolar-Hamilton regional semifinal playoff is set to start at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25. That game will be played at the same location as the Rattlers’ 71-18 area playoff victory over Marlin on Nov. 17 — Multi-Purpose Stadium in Crowley.

The winner of the Tolar-Hamilton matchup will advance to the Division I, Region II final the following week. The other Class 2A Division I Region II semifinal playoff will be between 7-5 Riesel and 12-0 Crawford, which was No. 3 behind Timpson and Hawley in the final 2A Division I rankings published online by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.
