Following its open house on Saturday, Jan. 7, from 5-6 p.m., StoneWater Church Granbury will be unveiling its new building in a grand opening celebration on Sunday, Jan. 8.

The grand opening, located at 911 E. Highway 377, will kick off its festivities before and after both church services at 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.

Special guest Taylor Hearn, Texas Rangers pitcher, will be at the event signing autographs and taking photos.

“Through a friendship with a member of the StoneWater staff we were able to make the connection with Taylor Hearn,” said StoneWater Church Pastor Jeremy White. “Hearn is a believer who loves the Lord and loves giving back to the community, so having him at StoneWater's grand opening only made sense.”

The event will also include doughnuts, alpine tubing, a party on the front porch with a DJ, and family fun giveaways.

“This grand opening is not for us; it is for our community,” White said. “We believe the building is just a tool for us to show God's love to the community. We are having a grand opening so that you know this place is for you.”

White said over the last 17 years, StoneWater has experienced a lot of growth. When the church moved into the old Walmart building in 2010, he said they had always planned to remodel and relaunch in a “brand-new facility.”

"We've seen that plan come to fruition over the last three years,” White said.

StoneWater’s new facility now includes a remodeled main auditorium that seats 1,400 people. The kid’s ministry area also features an indoor playground and a rock-climbing wall.

“As we grew, it became evident that we needed to make more room for families looking for answers to their most challenging problems and finding community in the process,” White said.

White said adults who would like to watch Sunday’s sermon in a smaller, more relaxed venue can visit the "Coffee House," a venue that seats 200, features comfy couches, and offers plenty of coffee to go around.

“We know that families in our community are in need, and we believe that God can help them through the church,” he said. “We, as a church, want to bring direction, connection, and protection to families. We want to help men understand their role as leaders who love and serve their families and communities. We want to give young families a foundation upon which to grow. We want to walk alongside single parents in times of distress. We want to give purpose and direction to retired folks who are looking for significance. We believe God has called us to help strengthen families, both young and old.”

White said he knows that churches across America are struggling and hopes that StoneWater Church can be a place for the next generation to “hear the truth of Jesus and experience God’s fulfilling life for them.”

“We want to help communities all over Texas have a place like StoneWater to find real answers to life's problems,” he said. “If you've been watching from the outside over the last 17 years, you've probably noticed that we are not perfect. Sometimes we fumble the ball, but we believe what we preach about God being a loving, grace-giving, personal, yet powerful God.”

White encourages Hood County residents to join in the celebration this weekend.

“Who knows,” he added, “you may find some answers that you’ve been looking for.”
