The Christmas Story in Song is the theme for the Night of Lights Christmas Parade.

The Historic Granbury Merchants Association is taking parade applications through Nov. 22. Application forms are available at the Hood County News, 1501 S. Morgan St.; Granbury Visitors Center, 201 E. Pearl St.; HGMA office at Granbury Square Plaza, 201 E. Pearl St. and online at

Community businesses join area churches for the lighted parade with a Christian theme at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29.

The 28th annual parade on the day after Thanksgiving includes floats, walking units, horses, choirs and more. Parade entries must have at least 30 percent coverage with festive lights.

Parade entries gather at 5 p.m. at the former school parking lot at Hannaford and Rucker streets, in front of Decker Gym. From there the parade heads east on Pearl Street and circles the square.

The parade also marks the arrival of Santa Claus on the square. The jolly fellow will step off a fire truck as the last entry in the parade. He will be talking with children at Santa’s House on the courthouse lawn following the parade.

Granbury Santa House will be open Friday night, Nov. 29, after the parade and also on Fridays, Dec. 6, 13 and 20 from 5-8 p.m.

Saturday hours are from 10-noon, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Dec. 7, 14, 21.

Sunday hours are from 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Dec. 1, 8, 15 and 22.

Additional week night dates include Dec. 16,17,18, 19 and 23 from 6-8 p.m.
