Tin Top Highway crash early Monday results in one death

Posted

A three-vehicle crash early Monday morning on Tin Top Highway about five miles northwest of Granbury resulted in one death, while two other people were injured and transported to area hospitals, according to Highway Patrol Sgt. Ricky Hunter.

The DPS investigation so far indicates that a 2004 Nissan Xterra “was traveling north on FM 2580 and a 1993 GMC pickup was behind the Nissan,” Hunter stated in an email to the HCN. “The Nissan was driving in a reckless manner and braked hard causing the GMC to strike the rear of the Nissan. That collision caused the Nissan to travel into the southbound lane where it struck a 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan head on. The collision between the Nissan and the Volkswagen resulted in the death of a passenger inside the Volkswagen. The drivers of the Nissan and the Volkswagen were transported to Fort Worth area hospitals with undisclosed injuries. The driver of the GMC pickup was not injured.”

Hunter added, “The names of all parties are not being released at this time. Those will be released later as the investigation is ongoing at this time.”
