Tolar ISD and Lipan ISD emerged from two years of COVID-19 struggles with A ratings from the Texas Education Agency in its 2022 A-F accountability scores, which were released Monday.

Because of the pandemic, scores had not been issued since 2019.

The ratings reflect academic performance across three domains: Student Achievement, School Progress and Closing the Gaps.

Both Tolar and Lipan saw dips in numerical scores but managed to maintain their overall rating of A despite challenges posed by the pandemic.

For its overall rating, Tolar ISD, which has three schools and 847 students, received a numerical score of 92 out of 100, just two points less than in 2019.

The district also received an A in each of the three domains. Numerical scores were 92 for Student Achievement, 91 for School Progress, and 93 for Closing the Gaps.

“We are extremely proud of the teachers and students within the Tolar ISD,” Superintendent Travis Stilwell stated in an email to the Hood County News. “Their hard work and dedication is evident and appreciated. We are blessed to have great support from all of our families and the community as a whole. As always, I am proud to be a Rattler!”

Lipan ISD, which has two schools and 447 students, received a numerical score of 90 out of 100 for its overall rating, just points below its 2019 score.

The district scored an A (91) in the Student Achievement category, a B (89) in the School Progress category, and a B (87) in the Closing the Gaps domain.
