Tolar city officials are seeking input from residents in preparation for possibly receiving grant funds to finance a big sidewalk project.
The sidewalks and shared-use paths would be along Tolar’s main corridor, U.S. Highway 377, as well as sidewalks that link schools to the downtown area.
A come-and-go Open House featuring exhibits will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, May 10-12, at Tolar City Hall, 8712 W. U.S. Highway 377.
Those attending the Open House will be able to share their opinions. Those unable to attend can fill out a pedestrian infrastructure survey online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/tolarsidewalks.
City Administrator Michelle Burdette told the Hood County News that a Town Hall meeting about the project will be scheduled soon.
According to a press release, the city was recently invited to submit a detailed application to the Texas Department of Transportation’s Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside Program, which grants funds for locally sponsored bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure projects.
TxDOT will recommend projects from around the state to the Texas Transportation Commission for disbursement of TA funds under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
Granbury city officials have also spoken of pursuing Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside Program grant funds to help achieve goals outlined in the city’s Active Transportation and Recreation Master Plan, adopted in 2022.
The agenda for this week’s meeting of the Granbury Parks Board included discussion of those grant funds and possible action on a letter of support from the Parks Board.
