Vet fest brings car show, flags, music this weekend

Posted

The North Texas Vet Fest is open today and tomorrow, and the 150 Vettes for Vets car show takes place Sunday. Field of Flags is open through Veterans Day, Wednesday.

All are part of the Veterans Day activities presented by Rally Project, led by Doug Pruitt of Granbury.

Vet Fest events are at Decker Field and the surrounding area on Hannaford Street, just north of Pearl.

The Vet Fest includes a display of 500 American flags next to Decker Field, along with art vendors, craftsmen and popular food trucks. Musical acts will perform at Decker Field for the two-day festival from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Veterans Ruck March is Saturday, leaving from Decker Field circling out to Highway 377 and back. Pruitt said the annual Ruck is to raise awareness regarding the needs of veterans and the high suicide rate among veterans and those in the military. Call Pruitt at 817-219-1455 for more information about the Ruck.

The Rally Project is dedicated to help the men and women who have served in the military and sacrificed so much to protect and maintain our freedom.

“We call them servant warriors,” Pruitt said of military members and first responders.

“It’s not only the physical, but emotional and spiritual needs they have due to the cumulative or single-incident trauma that comes with their duties,” he added.

Those attending the Vet Fest can make donations to the Rally Project, learn how to volunteer or purchase flags to honor loved ones.
