Weatherford woman killed in Monday crash

A three-vehicle crash early Monday morning on Tin Top Highway remains under investigation, but DPS Sgt. Ricky Hunter has released the names of those involved including a 43-year-old Weatherford woman who died from her injuries.

Jennifer A. Kamp, of Weatherford, a passenger in a 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan, died as a result of the crash, which was initially reported by the HCN online. The collision occurred at approximately 4 a.m. on June 28 on FM 2580 about five miles northwest of Granbury in Hood County, according to Hunter. The driver of the Volkswagen, 43-year-old Donald W. Kamp of Weatherford, was transported to a Fort Worth area hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The names of the other two drivers have also now been released by Hunter. They are Richie T. Little, 42, of Granbury, who was driving a 1993 GMC pickup; and Harry L. Ives IV, 34, of Bryan, who was driving a 2004 Nissan Xterra. Ives was also transported to a Fort Worth area hospital for medical treatment. Little was not injured, Hunter noted.

Earlier in the week, Hunter stated that the initial DPS investigation indicated that the Nissan “was traveling north on FM 2580 and a 1993 GMC pickup was behind the Nissan. The Nissan was driving in a reckless manner and braked hard causing the GMC to strike the rear of the Nissan. That collision caused the Nissan to travel into the southbound lane where it struck a 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan head on. The collision between the Nissan and the Volkswagen resulted in the death of a passenger inside the Volkswagen.”

Hunter’s latest email response also notes, “The investigation into the crash is ongoing,” and no additional information is available at this time.
