A 25-year-old Granbury woman sustained injuries that were reported by the DPS as “serious” when her 2005 Volkswagen collided with a GISD school bus on Jan. 14, DPS Sgt. Richard Hunter told the Hood County News on Wednesday.

The 13 GISD students on board the bus, as well as its 73-year-old driver, were uninjured.

Hunter said that the driver of the Volkswagen, Darian Nicole Brittain, of Granbury, was transported by air ambulance from the scene of the accident, on FM 167 near Pecan Plantation, to Harris Methodist Hospital in downtown Fort Worth for treatment of what were listed as “serious/incapacitating” injuries.

As of Wednesday afternoon (Jan. 19), Hunter said he had not received any updates on her medical condition.

Brittain was attempting to turn left from FM 167 into a private drive, and was issued a traffic ticket for “failing to yield right-of-way” to the bus.
